Timur Lukas (b. 1986) lives and works in Augsburg. His artistic practice centers on a minimalist, intuitive approach to painting, which he describes as “automatic writing with a brush.” He seeks to give form to sensations that resist verbal expression. His process combines spontaneous drawings on paper and canvas with self-prepared grounds using semi-chalk, ink glazes, and painting mediums inspired by historical techniques. His works reflect a conscious engagement with his surroundings.
